We Built GEARS To Measure What Was Happening During A Golf Swing
In 2012, we set out to make research-grade motion capture useful to coaches and athletes. GEARS measures the golfer and the club throughout the swing with sub-millimeter accuracy.
For more than a decade, tour players, elite instructors, biomechanists, and equipment companies have used it to see movement the eye cannot.
Then We Looked At The Shaft.
Golf shafts have always been described by labels: flex, weight, launch, spin. GEARS let us study something more useful: how the shaft actually moves during a real swing.
What we measured challenged conventional wisdom. In our testing, lower torque created draw bias. Higher torque created fade bias. Torque wasn’t a secondary specification. It was one of the biggest factors in how a shaft performed.
You Shouldn’t Need A Tour Card To Test Like A Tour Player.
A tour fitting doesn’t end at the launch monitor. It starts there. Tour players take the best options to the course, and the course decides what stays in the bag.
We created the GEARS Tour Testing Program so every golfer can do the same.
